Fatehpur Sikri in Agra
In the Agra district of Uttar Pradesh, Fatehpur Sikri is a town. Akbar's son Jahangir was born at the village of Sikri in 1569 and that year Akbar began construction of a religious compound to commemorate the Sheikh who had predicted the birth. The city was named Fatehpur Sikri, the "City of Victory", after Akbar's victorious Gujarat campaign in 1573.

Architecture:
The carvings on the walls are too beautiful and there are several numbers of gates named Chandanpal Gate, Gwalior Gate, Birbal’s Gate, Chor Gate, Ajmeri Gate, Delhi Gate, Lal gate, Agra Gate, and Tehra Gate. After 5 years of construction of the mosque, Buland Darwaza, a 55 metres high structure was built. It is one of the most popular location among photographers.

Idgah bus stand is the biggest bus terminal of Agra. The Fatehpur Sikri railway stationRailway Station is the railway station nearby Fatehpur Sikri at a distance of 300 metres. Agra airport is the nearest airport to this location.
Places to visit in Fatehpur Sikri:
Salim Chishti’s Tomb – This is a single storey building constructed around square chamber which holds the grave of Sufi saint Salim Chishti.
Jama Masjid – It was the first building constructed on the complex and has very religious meaning. It is built up of fine white marbles.
Jodha Bai’s Palace – It is the largest in the complex. For privacy there is a 9 metre tall gate and this palace has really high walls.
