Jama Masjid one of the largest mosques in India
Jama Masjid is one of the largest mosques in India. It took one million rupees to build this building with marble and limestone. It is always crowded and is near Red Fort, so one can always visit the famous Chandni Chowk.

- Entry fee : Indian Citizen – INR35, Foreigners – INR 500
- Phones and cameras are not allowed
- Open on all days from 7:00AM to 12:00PM, 1:30PM to 6:30 PM
- Dress Code – Attire that covers head, legs and shoulders.
History:
It was built by more than 5000 workers under the orders of the Mughal Emperor Shah Jahan between 1650 and 1656 at a cost of one million rupees. There is a lot of space as around 25000 people can pray at a time in that mosque. Over the period of time there were needs to repair the mosque and donations were made to do the same.
Architecture:
This mosque has three gates, four towers and two 40 metre tall minarets constructed with red sandstone and white marble. The gate on North has 39 steps and on south, it has 33 steps. The eastern gate was used by the emperors and it remains closed on weekdays. The measurement of prayer hall is, 61 metres in length and 27.5 metres in breadth. The floor of this mosque is made up of white and black ornamented marble.
