India Gate Delhi
India gate is a war memorial and it is 42metre tall. Secured by guards, there is Amar Jawan Jyoti, structure of black marble plinth with reversed L1A1 self-loading rifle, capped by war helmet, bound by four urns, each with light from compressed natural gas flames, erected under the India Gate. It is the place where prime minister arrives to show the gratitude towards our Indian army at the time of Republic Day.

History& Architecture:
It was built in December 1917. On 10 February 1921, the foundation stone of the gate, All India War Memorial, was laid. 13,300 servicemen's names, including some soldiers and officers from the United Kingdom, are inscribed on the gate. The gate evokes the architectural style of the triumphal arch, designed by Sir Edwin Lutyens. Beneath the archway there is a structure consisting of a black marble plinth with a reversed rifle, capped by a war helmet and bounded by four eternal flames. This structure is called Amar Jawan Jyoti. The building is made up of Red and yellow sandstones sourced from Bharatpur. The structure is crowned with a shallow dome at the top, standing on a low base and rises in asymmetrical steps.

How to reach:
Nearest metro station is Central Secretariat that comes on the Yellow Line. There are several number of DTC buses to reach there. India Gate is at a walkable distance from Rajiv Chowk. Rickshaws also run from metro stops to India Gate.
