Jungle safari corbett national park

 

 

 

Jungle safari is a forest trail where visitors can look around while hiking or trekking or walking. Travellers get to explore the forest regions via a jeep oran elephant or even on a horse. There are lots of places in India which offer jungle safari. One of the famous location among tourists to experience jungle safari isJim Corbett National Park, Uttarakhand, which is a forested wildlife sanctuary. This is the oldest national park which was established in 1936.Bengal tigers are the main attraction of this forest and it is rich in flora and fauna.

This park is home for 488 different species of plants.  As per the data, there are 33 species of reptiles, 7 species of amphibians, 7 species of fish, 36 species of dragonflies and more than 586 species of resident and migratory birds.Leopards are found in hilly areas but may also venture into the low land jungles. Other mammals include barking deer, sambar deer, hog deer and chital, sloth and Himalayan black bears, Indian grey mongoose, otters, yellow-throated martens, Himalayan goral, Indian pangolins, and langurs. Owls and nightjars can be heard during the night.In the summer, Indian elephants can be seen in herds of several hundred.

 

When to Visit:

 

Since the space area of this national park is 497 square miles, tourists need minimum 2 days to cover it. There is no need to worry because one can stay in Dhikala Old Forest Rest House which is located inside the forest. November to February, is the best time to visit this national park. At this period of time, the season is pleasant to travel and all the zones are open.

Jungle Safari:

For Foreigners,INR 9000.

 

It is organized twice a day, one in the morning and one in the evening. Jeep Safari and Canter Safari are the two safaris that are allowed here. The canter safari is only for Dhikala zone. At a time there are certain number of visitors and jeep allowed. In one jeep, only 6 people can ride. The visitors need to book tickets in advance. The foreigners need to book it before 90 days and for Indians it is 45 days.

 

 

River Rafting: 

Cost - INR 2000

For adventure wanderers Kosi River at Corbett National Park, offers river rafting which can be done only during the monsoons. The best time for experiencing this adventure is from July to September. There are other adventure water sports like angling, fishing and rappelling which are also organized on this river.

 

Birjani Zone:

 

Timings for Winter Safari: 7:00 AM - 10:00 AM and 2:00 PM - 5:30 PM
Timings for Summer Safari: 6:00 AM - 9:30 AM and 3:00 PM - 6:30 PM

 

To spot the royal Bengal Tiger, it is the second best zone after Dhikala. This zone is also called the house of almost 600 species of rare and migratory birds. Tourists need to be accompanied by a guide and a safari jeep. To stay, there are two rest houses available and entry permit is required to go to this zone.

 

Dhikala:

Accommodation booking: For Indian - 46 days in advance
For Foreigners - 91 days in advance

It is open from 15 November to 15 June for the tourists. To spot the Bengal tiger, deers, Dhikala Chaur and the rare Hog deer, this is the famous location. Canter safari is available only in this zone and one can’t drink alcohol or eat non-vegetarian food inside Jim Corbett. 

 

Corbett Waterfall:

Time to visit: 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM

It is a beautiful 66 ft. high waterfall and it offers a pleasant environment.It is surrounded by dense forests.On full-moon nights, the view of this waterfall is magnificent. Tourists visit this spot to camp and spend good family time with their families or friends.

 

Corbett Museum:

 

Entry Fee: For Indians - INR 10 
For Foreigners - INR 50 
For Students with valid ID - INR 3

 

Timings: Monday to Sunday: 7.00 AM - 6.00 PM

 

This museum is located at Kaladhungi and it belonged to atiger conservationist named Jim Corbett. It displays his memoirs, personal belongings, antiques and rare photographs. There are letters written by him as well as his friends and well-wishers.

 

Temples to visit:

 

Durga Mandir Temple - Dedicated to Goddess Durga, this is an ancient temple and is famous for its architectural work.

 

Sitabani Temple –Situated in the Sitavani Jungles, famous for its religious significance, this is also an ancient temple.

 

Garjiya Devi Temple –This temple is open for tourists throughout the year, except for the monsoons. The Garjiya Devi Temple is perched atop a huge rock in the midst of Kosi River.
