Lansdowne hill station of uttarakhand
Lansdowne is a hill station in Pauri Garhwal district of Uttarakhand. From Kotdwar it is 45 kms away. Surrounded by oak and pine forests, this place is situated at an altitude of 1,706 m above sea level. This is one of the most lovely and peaceful places. The journey to this place is even more beautiful. It was founded by Lord Lansdowne in 1887, as a military garrison under the British Raj. During British period it was a major place of the activities of freedom fighters from British Garhwal.
When to visit:
This place remains pleasant all the time and it is always crowded with the travellers. The lush greenery of this place is at its best from September to November. The best time to travel is from April to July as during this time the weather is pleasant and perfect for sightseeing. One who wants to get sight of the Himalayas, can travel in November.

There is no particular bus stand to this place. One can take buses and taxis from Kotdwar.
Kotdwar Railway Station is the nearest railway to reach to this place. It is at a distance of 40km.

Tadkeshwar Mahadev Temple:From Lansdowne, this temple is located at a distance of 38 km. It is dedicated to Lord Shiva. This temple is surrounded by Deodar trees. This is a peaceful and quite calm place.
Tip & Top: This is a small hill top viewpoint located at 1.5 km from Lansdowne. One can get to see the view of magnificent Shivalik range. To stay, there is a beautiful hut house provided by GMVN.
Bhulla Tal: This is a lake known as Bhulla Lakeor Bhulla Tal which is located at just 1 km walk from Lansdowne. This place is famous among families as it is a perfect place for picnic. Travellers can also experience boating here. The cost of the tickets are INR50 for adults and it opens from 10:00am to 5:00pm.
Darwan Singh Museum: This museum is named after first Victoria Cross holder from Garhwal Rifles Darwan Singh Negi. It was inaugurated in 1983 and it contains rarest collection of Garhwal Rifles. The cost for entering this museum is INR50 and it opens from 9:00am to 12:00pm and 3:00pm to 6:00pm.
Bhim Pakora: This place attracts tourists through its name. It is 2km away from the town. It is structure of two large stones one above the other in a perfect balance. The thing that surprises the travellers is that the upper rock can be moved by a single finger but it never fells down even after push by both hands.
Kaleshwar Mahadev Temple: Dedicated to Lord Shiva, this place is famous among meditators. It is named after Sage Kalun who meditated here. There was a Dharmshala built nearby in 1901.
Hawaghar: This is one of the famous spots from where one can experience to see the beautiful scene of snow covered Himalayas. For nature lovers, the trekking experience is worth to give a short.
