Sattal, as name suggests is an interconnected group of seven freshwater lakes. It is situated near Bhimtal, a town of the Nainital district in Uttarakhand. This lake is one of the purest lakes in India. It is home for 500 species of resident and migratory birds, 20 species of mammals, over 525 species of butterflies and over 11,000 species of moths, beetles, bugs and other insects. There are varieties of fishes like Mahseers, Labeo rohita, Cirrhinus, mrigala, Schizothorax richardsonii and Catla catla.

If you are looking for a place to relax and see beautiful scenic view, then this place is what you are missing. For the visitors who want to visit this destination when it is less crowded, then travelling in off season is better option. Also, it is cheaper at that time to travel. However, the best timeto visit is from the month of March to May and from December to January.

There is no personal bus stand to reach out this location. Travellers can take bus to Nainital and from there cabs and taxis are available. Destination is 46kms from here.

Bhim Tal: The ideal time to visit this beautiful place is, from March – June or from September – December. It is 23 km away from Nainital. To look at the beautiful scenic views from this hill station is one of the best experience. This location is popular among tourists as there are different activities one can do. Stargazing, fishing, paddle boating, birding and nature walk are some of the famous activities. There is a famous temple called Bhimeshwar Temple which is dedicated to lord Shiva. It is made up ofbrick and mortar.

 

Subhash Dhara: It is a fresh water natural spring. The main attraction point of this place is the clean and crystal water.

 

Butterfly Museum:This is a paradise for nature lovers as it is house for nearly 110 species of insect. As it is a butterfly museum, this place has 2500 varied species of butterflies. It is 2km from Bhim Tal.
